Short summary
This article examines the platformization of care and domestic work in Spain within the crisis of southern Europe’s familist welfare regimes. Based on qualitative fieldwork in Madrid, it argues that platforms intensify privatization and dependence on migrant labour while exploiting insecure migratory trajectories. At the same time, migrant workers’ collectives foster mutual aid, politicization and collective agency, challenging the isolation produced by platform-mediated work.
